Air dried for over 20 years, this solid block of American Black Walnut is turned into a graceful wood fruit bowl with a coved base.
In the context of this video, a fruit bowl or wooden fruit bowl is a wide shallow wood bowl for the purpose of displaying fruit or other non-perishable food. I wouldn’t use a bowl like this to serve or eat any moist or liquid foods such as salad or soup. Although, one could if you really wanted to.
In my opinion, a wood bowl like this is more decorative than utilitarian. Utility wood bowls usually have a deeper profile. This is of course, just an opinion. Feel free to agree or disagree as you please.
