Here we’re turning a bowl using a cracked, spalted, and insect damaged chuck of wood from a ‘pest’ species of tree. Don’t be fooled by the rough look and pathetic description of this wood. the finished bowl will be worth the effort. Watch the entire video and see this ugly wood transformed into a beautiful bowl!
Using wood in this condition certainly adds to the labor involved in producing a bowl. Fortunately for us this smallish log has an offset pith which gives us a larger than expected piece of wood from which to make our bowl. Let’s get to it!
