I find trivets to be an excellent canvas for experimental or creative woodturning. In this video we make a trivet to try and discover the issues involved when turning double-sided lattice patterns.
A trivet may have a utilitarian purpose in the kitchen or dining room, however that is not why I like making them. I like trivets as decorative tableware.
